Wine of the Week

Jones of Washington 2019 Sauvignon Blanc

Appellation: Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley

Best Buy! Over the years, it’s been Pinot Gris, Riesling and rosé that have brought back Platinums, but Wine Press Northwest magazine’s 2012 Washington Winery of the Year achieved new levels of success with some other varieties, including Sauvignon Blanc. This effort by winemaker Victor Palencia on behalf of the Jones family is full of enticing tones of pink grapefruit, honeydew melon, Key lime, lemon verbena and wet concrete. The fleshy palate includes a touch of gooseberry pie, and it all adds up to a porch-pounding Sauv Blanc that earned a double gold at the 2020 Washington State Wine Competition on its way to a Platinum award and the No. 12 ranking on The Seattle Times list of Top 20 Wines under $20 for 2020.

Rated “Platinum” by Wine Press Northwest.
