Season Cellars 2018 Transparency White Wine

Appellation: Southern Oregon

The Henry family is renowned for its decades of work with Müller-Thurgau, and second-generation producers Scott and Jennifer Henry skillfully blend M-T (50%) with Muscat (35%) and Riesling — all from White Tail Ridge Vineyard — with a semi-sparkling flair. Notes of fleshy stone fruit, including peach and apricot, pick up some tropicality from lychee as the citrusy blend of orange and lemon juice builds brightness for a fun finish. Last fall, it ended up earning a unanimous vote for Platinum among judges during the 20th Platinum Judging, having earned its way via a gold medal at the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition in the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel.

Rated “Double Platinum” by Wine Press Northwest magazine. (11.1% alc.)

Price: $18

Cases produced: 200

Food pairings: The Henrys suggest chilling Transparency and serving it with shellfish, light appetizers, spicy Asian fare and creamy cheeses. They also call it “the perfect sushi wine — a phenomenal experience with the pickled ginger and wasabi burn.”

The Henrys operate their tasting room by appointment as well as on summertime weekends.
