Smasne Cellars 2006 Bunk House White

Published Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Appellation: Yakima Valley

Winemaker Robert Smasne nearly could have labeled this blend as Viognier (73%), but Chardonnay fills out the rest. He came up with a fascinating equation and almost two different wines between the nose and palate. Intriguing floral notes include bright lime, facial powder, rosemary and a bit of oak. On the palate, it's buttery, round and rich before turning full of tongue-tingling oranges, tangerines and "limon." Rated "Outstanding" by Wine Press Northwest magazine.

Price: $25.

Cases produced: 82. Order directly from the winery.

Food matches: Enjoy this with seared scallops or baked chicken.

Smasne Cellars, 2880 Lee Road, Suite 2A, Prosser, WA 99350, 509-788-0300, http://www.prosserwinecompany.com
