Appellation: Washington
Willamette Valley winemaker Jonathan Scott Oberlander, who rose to prominence at historic Silvan Ridge Winery, sources throughout the Pacific Northwest for grapes to pour at his tasting rooms in Eugenes Westside Warehouse District. His Albariño from the eastern end of the Yakima Valley spent no time in oak, so the citrusy aromas really get the juices flowing with this precisely balanced white. It is deliciously fruity and lively with layers of apricot, fresh-squeezed Meyer lemon, pear, mango, kiwi and a pinch of lemon basil, which are backed by lovely minerality. Zesty and mouthwatering acidity pulses through the never-ending finish that can cut into the heat of spicier dishes. Last spring, this wine earned its way into Wine Press Northwest magazines year-end Platinum Judging with a gold medal at the Oregon Wine Awards. In October, it merited a Double Platinum.
