Elevation Cellars 2012 Merlot

March 10, 2018

Appellation: Columbia Valley

Stillwater Creek Vineyard, a cornerstone site within the proposed Royal Slope American Viticultural Area, shines in the hands of Woodinville winemaker Steven Stuart. A 22-month program of 50% new French oak sets the stage for fruit aromas to make their way to good depth and clear varietal correctness on the palate. Blueberry, cassis, black cherry, fresh tobacco and minerally notes are supported by nice, chalky tannins. It’s pleasing from first sip to last and one of the top Washington Merlots. It used a gold medal at the Seattle Wine Awards to gain entry into the 2017 Platinum Judging for Wine Press Northwest, where it earned a Platinum award.

Rating: Outstanding! by Wine Press Northwest. (14.5% alc.)

Price: $26

Production: 400 cases

Food pairings: Enjoy with tomato-influenced pasta dishes, meatloaf, smoked ham with beans, jambalaya, braised ribs or casseroles with chicken or pork.
