Michael Florentino Cellars 2010 Monastrell

Appellation: Red Mountain

This member of the Woodinville Warehouse District is scheduled to take its wines on the road to pour at the Mount Rainier Fall Wine Festival on Nov. 2, and folks in fleece would be wise to seek out Brad Sherman’s Mourvédre off Kiona Vineyard. The nose is filled with black cherry, raspberry and blackberry with hints of Big Hunk nougat, chalkboard dust and cedar. It is a mouth-filling drink of Marionberry and black cherry, backed by a balanced structure of golden raspberry acidity and firm tannins. A pinch of black pepper adds to the nice farewell. Rated "Outstanding" by Great Northwest Wine. (14.9 percent alcohol)

Price: $28

Cases produced: 70

Food pairings: Enjoy with barbecued ribs, game meats, wild rice with lentils or veal.
