Tsillan Cellars 2010 Estate Sangiovese

Appellation: Lake Chelan

Owner Robert Jankelson has created one of the most beautiful destination wineries in the Northwest, building this Italian-style winery on the south shore of Lake Chelan. He planted his grapes where some of the world’s best Red Delicious apples once stood, and winemaker Shane Collins has crafted a superb Sangiovese from them. This opens with aromas of cherry, rhubarb and oak, followed by flavors of red cherry, pomegranate, chocolate and mint. It’s a nicely structured and well-balanced red. Rated "Outstanding" by Great Northwest Wine. (13.7 percent alcohol)

Price: $28

Cases produced: 163

Food pairings: Enjoy this with lasagna, tri-tip or grilled portobello mushrooms.
