Treveri Cellars NV Brut Rosé

July 3, 2013

Appellation: Columbia Valley

Juergen Grieb has been quietly making Washington wine since emigrating from his native West Germany in the early 1980s. In 2010, he launched Treveri Cellars to focus entirely on sparkling wine, and it has been a huge success, with him doubling his production each of the past two years. This was a gorgeous pink-hued wine with aromas of strawberry, raspberry jam and cherry, backed with flavors of dried cranberry, white strawberry, peach and apricot. The bubbles lifted the fruit and the spirit nicely. Rated "Outstanding" by Great Northwest Wine. (12 percent alc.)

Price: $18

Cases produced: 1,500

Food matches: Sparkling wine is one of the most versatile food wines. This works great for shellfish, salmon, chicken, pasta in a white sauce or a cheese and fruit plate.
