Columbia Gorge winery to close

Wheatridge in the Nook, a winery in the Columbia Gorge town of Arlington, Ore., has announced that it is closing its doors.

Wheatridge is one of those wineries I've said, "Hey, I need to visit there one of these times" whenever I pass its sign on Interstate 84 when I'm heading to Portland. Sounds like that must have been the case with a lot of people, hence the closure.

The winery opened in November 2006, so it was in business for barely three years. We received samples and reviewed two of Wheatridge's wines in our Spring 2007 issue but haven't reviewed any of its wines since.

If you are interested in a bargain, Wheatridge is having a sale on its remaining wines.
