Wine competition season

We are in the heart of wine competition season in North America.

Last week was the Pacific Rim Wine Competition in San Bernardino, Calif. The Northwest Wine Summit - the Northwest's largest judging - starts today. And the greatest of them all, the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition, is later this month.

Wine competitions are good for several reasons. They bring in awards for wineries, which is good for marketing wines. They help wineries measure themselves against other producers. They also get the word out to media, restaurateurs, wholesalers and retailers about up-and-coming wineries and regions.
